Corona-Virus Procedures - In regards to cleaning and disinfection

Please keep in mind that all of our protocols are developed with guidance from the CDC, AHLA, NYSHTA, and from the East Hampton Town business recovery committee with the following goals in mind,

  1. Reduce face to face contact and surface contact sharing as much as possible.
  2. Create scenarios where social distancing can be maintained as easily as possible.
  3. Ensure that every guest room is cleaned and disinfected to the highest possible standard between guests.

In regards to cleaning and disinfection;

    • What we are doing in between guests;
      • First guest checks out, and drops the key by the front office window,
      • Then we go into the room, remove all laundry, and begin to wash it following CDC guidelines.
      • A medical grade UVC light, please click here to read about it, is then put into the room and the room and bathroom are disinfected.
      • The housekeeper then enters the room and cleans, disinfects, and relaunders, following the protocols outlined below, which we have developed based on these CDC protocols. Click here to read them.
      • The room is locked, and the housekeeper disinfects the door handle on the way out, properly discarding the gloves immediately after.The process is repeated.
    • Between the cleaning of rooms gloves should be removed, properly discarded, and a new set put back on.
    • We will be using cleaning products that are EPA approved disinfectants that meet CDC requirements for use and effectiveness against viruses, bacteria, and other airborne and blood borne pathogens.
    • The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing should be increased in all public spaces with an emphasis on frequent contact surfaces including, but not limited to, front desk check in counters, door handles, room keys, locks, dining surfaces and sitting areas, umbrella handles, pool chairs, etc.
    • Housekeeping is encouraged to pay particular attention to high-touch items such as television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handles, water faucet handles, nightstands, telephones, in room control panels, light switches, temperature control panels, luggage racks, and flooring.
    • The frequency of the cleaning of air conditioner filters with be increased so fresh air exchange is ensured. 
    • In the event of a presumptive case of COVID-19 the affected guest room shall be removed from service and quarantined. The guest room shall not be returned to service until undergoing an enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocol utilizing EPA approved products within CDC guidelines
    • Shared tools and equipment should be sanitized before, during, and after each shift or anytime the equipment is transferred between employees.
    • Linens, towels, and all laundry shall be washed in accordance with CDC guidelines, including washing items and appropriate in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Where possible, we will launder items using the warmest possible water setting for the items and dry items completely. Dirty linen shall be transferred immediately to the laundry facility.
